Nelda Crow

Ruby Nelda Crow was born on April 25, 1923, in Oglethorpe County, GA (near Stephens, GA). The Crow family moved to Laurens County in 1938. After high school, she was employed with F.W. Woolworth in Dublin. She later transferred to Woolworth in High Point, North Carolina.

In the mid 1950’s, Woolworth opened numerous “Woolco” Stores around the United States, and trained Nelda as a “Travel Personnel Director.” She traveled to a number of different stores, assisting in store openings by hiring and training personnel. Nelda worked for Woolworth/Woolco for 32 years.

In 1982, Nelda returned home to Dublin and worked as Personnel Manager for Walmart. In her later years at Walmart, she worked as a Sales Associate in the Domestics Department. She retired from Walmart after 18 years of service.

Nelda was a faithful and devoted member of Dudley Baptist Church, and the “Duggan Weaver Sunday School Class”. She has been on the “inactive list” for the past 7 years but dearly loved her church family. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. Crow, and Rueni M. Crow; one sister, Beatrice Crow Thomas; and four brothers, Robert C. Crow, Rhea M. Crow, Thomas H. Crow, and Dennis D. Crow.

Surviving family members include a sister, Juanita Crow Mitchell of Macon; brothers, James Davis Crow (Joy) of Monroe, GA; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Gillis Crow of Macon, GA and Gerry B. Crow of Dublin, GA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Dudley Baptist Church.

A funeral service celebrating Nelda’s life will be held at 11:00 AM at Dudley Baptist Church with burial to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Gerald Frazier and Rev. Matt Greene will officiate.

Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
