Noah "Bunnie" Clifford Burkett, 95, was called Home by the Lord early Friday morning, September 12th. He was at peace & ready to go after a brief illness.
Mr. Burkett was born in Douglas, GA, on Easter, April 02, 1930, to the late Willam Noah and Mattie Clifford Burkett.
Over the course of his life, Bunnie was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force; ran his family farm after his fathers passing; worked for New Holland farm equipment as a sales representative; then served as Laurens County magistrate judge. A devout Christian, Bunnie was active at Pine Forest Methodist Church serving on many committees during his sixty-years there. He had breakfast with his self-described ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) buddies several times a week, was a part of the annual Pig Pickin’ BBQ, worked out at the Silver Sneakers program, and most recently, became a part of the Addington Place Assisted Living family.
He outlived two wives. Bunnie and Annelle were married thirty-five years, before she was tragically killed in a car accident. They had three children, Linda (Fritz) Hutchinson, Anne (Russell) Bush, Cliff (Kaye) Burkett, and one grandchild. After Annelle’s passing, he married Mary Riggs, who had three children, Damon (Jody) Riggs, Shannon Stuckey, and Tyler (Jaime) Riggs. They too were married over thirty-years and experienced the births of nine grandchildren and one adoption. Bunnie also has six great grandchildren.
At night he would pray that familiar prayer of a child, “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.”
We can only imagine the embrace he received from His Lord and Savior as He said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Join us for his Celebration Service, Monday, September 22, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Pine Forest Methodist Church with Rev. Brett Maddocks and Dr. Joel Dent officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church.
