Opal Mullis Hobbs, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at the age of 98 in Dublin, GA. Born on March 23, 1927, in Cochran, GA, Opal was the daughter of the late Walter and Amanda Sirmons Mullis. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Buckhorn Methodist Church, where her faith and kindness touched many lives.
Opal was the beloved wife of the late Fred Hobbs, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Earl Mullis, and sisters, Evelyn Rowland, Florie Haralson, Bertha Clark, and Claudia Floyd. Her legacy continues through her loving daughters, Wanda Sapp (Ed) and Sherrie Loftis (Dan), both of Dexter, who will forever cherish her memory.
A proud grandmother, Opal's joy was multiplied through her grandchildren: Kelly Barrere (Kevin), Britt Damino (Tiffany), Amanda Smith (Gene Boon), Gatlin Loftis (Ashley), and Kaitlin Miller (Grant). Her great-grandchildren, Carly Smith, Rebecca Smith, Abbie Burke, Nolan Damino, Evageline Barrere, and Monroe Loftis, brought her immeasurable happiness and were the light of her later years.
She is also survived by her sisters, Imogene Mullis and Joanne Lee, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Before retiring, Opal dedicated many years of service to JP Stevens. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, creating memories that they will hold close forever.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Buckhorn Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the owners and staff of James Place for their love and care, as well as the nurses and staff of Georgia Hospice Cares for their compassionate support during Opal's final days.
