Patricia Ann (Quinn) Carroll

Patricia Ann (Quinn) Carroll, age 82, of Dublin, Georgia, passed away on February 24, 2025, at Community Hospice in Vidalia, Georgia.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, to Thomas J. Quinn, Jr. and Eleanor Trant Quinn, Patricia's life was one of dedication to education. She graduated from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School in 1959 and continued her academic pursuits, earning her undergraduate degree in English and Social Science from Rhode Island College in 1963. She furthered her education, receiving her Master of Education (M.Ed.) from the University of Connecticut in 1967.

Patricia moved to Dublin, Georgia, in 1973, where she taught English at Dublin High School and shared her passion for literature and language with thousands of students. During her tenure, she was recognized twice as the Dublin High School PAGE STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) Teacher. The Dublin High School Reflector yearbook was dedicated to Patricia multiple times as well.

She retired in 2007, leaving a lasting impact on her students and the Dublin community and enjoying many years of retirement spent with her family and friends. Patricia loved to travel, especially when her destination included the discovery of a new bookstore or tea shop. She enjoyed sewing baby quilts and presenting them to parents as a keepsake for their children. Late in life, Patricia became a devout Auburn football fan when her oldest grandson attended Auburn University. Most of all, she was happiest when finding an opportunity to share a favorite book with another reader.

Patricia will be remembered for her sharp and self-deprecating wit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her beloved dog and cats.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Sellers Collins (Matthew) of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; and son, Lt. Col. Daniel Sellers (USAF) of Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by her sister, Cathleen Quinn, and brother, Mark Quinn, both of Rotonda West, Florida. Patricia leaves behind two cherished grandsons: Maxwell Quinn Collins (Lauren), of Atlanta, Georgia, and Carson Trant Collins, of Los Angeles, California. She also leaves behind two nephews and two great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas J. Quinn, III.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the service hour. A private scattering of ashes will take place at a later date.
