Peggy Thigpen Kennedy Branton, of Adrian, GA, passed away peacefully at Serenity Place on Monday, January 11, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Branton was born in Minter, GA on June 25, 1941, to the late Rev. W.E. Flanders and Anna Pauline Pope Flanders. Reared as a daughter of a Baptist minister, she was instilled with the faith and importance of God, her church, and her church family. She was active and most happy rearing her children and guiding them to set them on their way to adulthood.
Peggy was a faithful wife who loved maintaining her family's home and family gatherings. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Adrian for over 50 years and participated in so much of its work in the community. Peggy will be deeply missed by her husband Jim. They would have celebrated 25 years of marriage on February 3rd of this year. Mrs. Branton was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, and family member to her beloved family and she was faithful to her church family.
Peggy felt her greatest accomplishments in life were her three sons, Michael, John, and Erik, and the legacy of her father and mother in long devotion to the ministry and cause of Christ. She will be missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Jimmy Thigpen and Dr. Donald L. Kennedy; and infant daughter, Peggy Dawn Kennedy.
Survivors include her spouse, Jimmy Branton of Adrian; sons, Michael Thigpen (Lori) of East Dublin, John F. Kennedy (Susan) of Macon, and D. Erik Kennedy of Clayton; sisters, Betty Ballard Keen of Dacula, and Joy F. Dykes of Dublin; granddaughters, Shannon T. Hughes of Adrian, and Katherine Kennedy of Macon; grandson, Will Kennedy of Macon; three step-sons, six step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 15, 2021, at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Batesville, GA. Rev. David Oliver, her pastor, will officiate.
