Peggy Crooms Obituary

Peggy Jo Spivey Crooms, of Cadwell, GA, passed away on June 10, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born on October 15, 1947, in Dublin, Georgia, and lived a life marked by devotion, compassion, and steadfast love for her family and community.

Peggy was the daughter of the late Ralph and Bessie Spivey. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Forbes, Sandra Etheridge, and Belinda Walker.

She was married to Kenneth Crooms for 50 years, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and commitment. Peggy is survived by her son, Kenneth Crooms of Cadwell; her daughter, Jennie Galbreath of Cedar Grove; and her son and daughter-in-law, Billy Crooms and Kim of Dublin. She also leaves behind a large and cherished family of grandchildren, including Christine Crooms of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Joey Burnett (Jessica) of Cedar Grove; Holly Burnett of Cedar Grove; Randle Burnett (Kelly) of Cedar Grove; Kayley McGowan (Joey) of Aiken, South Carolina; Ty Kight (Courtney) of Dublin; Caleb Kight of Huntersville, Georgia; Emma Crooms of Perry; and Taylor Kight (Iris) of Hinesville, Georgia. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Elijah, Paisley, and River Burnett; Landon Burnett (Gracie); Lana Burnett; and Charley McGowan, as well as her great-great-grandchild, Garrett Burnett. She is also survived by her sister, Kathy Cooper (CJ) of East Dublin.

Peggy devoted many years of her life to caring for others through her work. She spent years at Dublin Garment Company before leaving in 1977 to pursue a career in nursing. She became a Registered Nurse and served with dedication at a local nursing home in Dublin and in emergency rooms in Augusta, Cochran, Dublin, and Macon. Her commitment to patient care and respect for every person she served were at the heart of her work. She later worked at the YDC in Eastman for nine years before retiring to care for her husband when he became ill. Her life in nursing reflected her loving and passionate nature, and she touched many lives through her kindness and professionalism.

Outside of her work, Peggy found joy in simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved working in her yard, planting flowers, and spending time playing with her grandchildren. Her happiest moments were often those shared with family, and she treasured the laughter, energy, and closeness that came with being surrounded by those she loved.

Graveside services for Peggy will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Snowhill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Bill Crooms will officiate.
