Prentice Elmer Harden

Prentice Elmer Harden, age 86, of Dublin, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Prentice was born on January 16, 1939. His parents were Clovis and Lauriece Harden. In his early teen years, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Rock Springs Baptist Church. In 1958, he united with Olivet Baptist Church and has faithfully served God and others there since that time. He gladly filled many roles with a servant’s heart.

In 1959, he married Paula Page and they had one son, Mark. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. They enjoyed traveling and together have served with Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief.

In 2001, he retired as Safety and Environmental Director of Bassett Furniture with over 30 years of service. After his retirement from Bassett, he directed the Laurens Baptist Ministry Center for seven years.

Prentice was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Bessie Grace Harden and Barbara McDaniel.

He is survived by his family: Paula; Mark and Mable Harden; Jeff, Brandi, Brynn and Rayna Upshaw; Nolon McDaniel; Paul and Ann Cowles; two great nieces, two great-great nieces, several cousins, and many dear friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at Olivet Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Burial will follow at Northview Cemetery. Dr. Paul Cowles will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service hour on Thursday at the church.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the JOY Sunday School Class of Olivet Baptist Church and ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Club of Chick-fil-A.

Donations in Prentice’s memory to Olivet Baptist Church, 1689 Highway 19 South, Dublin, GA 31021, in lieu of flowers, will be appreciated.
