Remus Earl Morgan, 82, of Dublin passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, at Fairview Park Hospital after an extended illness. He was born June 21, 1941 to Z.T. and Leila Smith Morgan in Dublin. He grew up in the Scott community of Johnson County and graduated from Adrian High School in 1959.
Earl worked as a shipping clerk at Lovett and Tharpe Company, a shipping clerk and wholesale grocery salesman for the Werden Company and retired after 25 years of service with Engelhard Corporation in McIntyre, Georgia. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Pine Forest Methodist Church where he served on many committees and building superintendent for many years. He was also a member of the Men’s Bible Class.
In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his brothers, William Clyde Morgan and James Edward Morgan, and his grandson, Edwin Nicholas Hickman.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Gloria Palmer Morgan, of Dublin; daughter, Pam Morgan Schaade (Jeff) of North Augusta, South Carolina; son, Patrick Morgan (Leslie) of Evans, Georgia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Katie Schaade Dwyer (Blake) of Rock Hill, SC; Caroline Schaade Boleware (Kyle) of Sumrall, MS; Brian H. Schaade of North Augusta; Maegan Wilkie Clark (Wesley) of Appling, GA; Ashley Wilkie Williams (Simon) of Augusta, GA; and Shaun Nicholas Hickman of Evans, GA; great grandchildren, Whitton Clark, Dawson Clark, Simon (Si) Williams, Owen Williams, and Morgan Boleware; and special nieces, Cheryl Morgan Giles (Bill) and Judy Morgan Foskey (Roger). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and special family friends, Charles and Leann Evans and Charlie Evans of Martinez, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Pine Forest Methodist Church in Dublin, GA, with interment at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Brett Maddocks will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on the day of the service.
Brian Schaade, Blake Dwyer, Kyle Boleware, Shaun Hickman, Wesley Clark, Simon Williams, Whitton Clark, and Charlie Evans will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers include the members of the Men’s Bible Class, Dr. George Evans, Dr. Jim Lane, Dr. Robert (Bob) Shuman, Dewell Lawrence, J.B. Dial, Jason Smith, and Joel Stuckey.
