Reta Foskey Scarboro, 87, passed peacefully in her home August 26, 2023 after an extended illness.
Reta was born in Laurens County to the late William Sessum Foskey and the late Vera Davis Garner March 19, 1936. She retired from Veterans Administration in Dublin, Georgia. She dedicated her life to her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Pine Forest Church, a member of Green Acres Garden Club, and a member of NCO Wife’s Club in the Untied States Air Force. While living in Alabama and Bermuda, she volunteered with Down Syndrome Foundation. She enjoyed bowling. She was an avid reader and wrote beautiful poetry and short stories.
In addition to her parents, Reta is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Billy E. Scarboro, sisters, Waudena Simons and Neta Buscher, brother, James F. Garner, and grandson, Brent Tate.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her daughters, Billie Tate (Randy) and Debbie Franks (David) both of Dublin; granddaughters, Melissa Cowart (Mark), Kara Moore (Chris), and Rachel Joiner (Bret); great-grandchildren, Anna Cowart, Cate Cowart, Shylah Moore, Ashleigh Andrews (Adam), Josh Cowart, Brandon Cowart (Paige), Millie Joiner, Tate Joiner, Jack Moore, and Ryan Moore; sister, Sheila Mallory of Dublin; sister-in-law, Linda Garner of Dublin; and brother-in-law, Junior Scarboro of Dublin.
Services will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Pine Forest Church with interment to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Dr. Joel Dent and Rev. Brett Maddox will officiate the services.
Pallbearers include Mark Cowart, Jimmy Garner, Eli Holmes, John Paul Holmes, Bret Joiner, Chris Moore, Kyle Sellers, and Will Sellers.
