Richard Barbee, Sr. Obituary

Richard Clyde Barbee. Sr., 100, of Dublin, GA passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. He was born in Dublin on June 8, 1925, to the late Richard Lee Barbee and the late Mary Ella Barbee.

Clyde was a veteran of World War II, having served as a Medical Corpsman in the Marines in the invasion of Okinawa.

He was the oldest member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. He was a Mason and Shriner, a past president of Laurens Shrine Club, and a charter officer of the Sportsman Club when it was formed.

Clyde was in the printing business all of his life, starting at age 16 when he graduated from Dublin High School. He took great pride in becoming a craftsman and business owner. He was co-owner and operator of Southern Printing Company for 70 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen “Connie” Barbee; sister, Dollie Barbee Dominy; brothers, Steve Barbee, George Barbee, Grady Barbee, and Willie Lee Barbee, and his sons-in-law, Dennis Bridges and Lee Harbin.

Mr. Barbee is survived by his children: Ricky Barbee of Dublin; Cathy Bridges of Bogart, GA; Patti Harbin of San Antonio, TX; and Susan Doolittle (Eric) of John’s Creek, GA; his grandchildren: Grace H. Greenleaf (Paul); Emma Kate H. Young (Justin); Georgia H. Crumrine (Garrett); Megan D. Hunter (Liam); Eli Doolittle; John Michael Doolittle (Brianna); Richie Doolittle; and Shane Doolittle; seven great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Rufus and Mary Barbee; sisters-in-law, Jessie Barbee and Janie Barbee, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Northview Cemetery in Dublin, GA with Rev. Kyle Giddens officiating.
