Richard F. Ondrovic

Richard F. Ondrovic, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025.

Richard was a proud Vietnam veteran whose service to his country remained an important part of his life and identity. He was a college graduate of the University of Chicago and went on to build a long and successful career spanning over 40 years in the food service industry, where he served as a National Accounts Manager. His work took him across the United States, a role he embraced with dedication and professionalism.

Outside of work, Richard found joy in simple pleasures. He loved swimming, biking, and grilling on his beloved Weber grill. He was especially fond of fried chicken, which never failed to bring a smile to his face.

Richard had a deep love for animals, particularly cats, and was well known for rescuing stray birds, animals, and even turtles whenever he could. His kindness extended to everyone he met. He was a genuinely funny man who loved telling jokes, laughing, and making others feel at ease. His warmth, humor, and love for family and friends will be deeply missed.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Annie Ondrovic; his son, Christopher Ondrovic; and his cherished grand-kitty, Freya. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Phyllis Ondrovic; his nephew, Jay Ondrovic, and Jay’s wife, Lynn Ondrovic; his niece, Trina, and her husband, Mike Bozzi; and his niece, Mindy Ondrovic.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Ondrovic; his mother, Josephine Ondrovic; and his brother, Dennis Ondrovic.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held after the holidays. His family invites all who knew and loved him to remember him with laughter, kindness, and compassion—just as he lived his life.
