Richard "Russ" Thacker

Richard “Russ” Thacker, 27, of Dublin, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

Russ was born in Tifton, GA on October 21, 1994, and was a graduate of Irwin County High School.  He was an avid outdoorsman and he loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was a loving father, son, brother, grandson, and the fun uncle.

He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Thacker; uncles, Robby Thacker and Mark Lott; great-grandparents, Stanley and Wydene Tomberlin; great-grandfathers, Cleon Lott and Russell Thacker, and nephew, Weston Edge.

Survivors include his parents, Kevin and Tracie Childers, of Dublin; son, Stetson Johnson, of Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Heather and Austin Russell, of Jesup; niece, Westlyn Edge, of Jesup; brother and sister-in-law, Seth and Halee Childers, of Dublin; grandparents: Glen and Patsy Lott, of Wray, Doris and Buddy Woodard, of Thailand, and David and Joyce Childers, of Dublin; grandmother, Juanita Thacker, of Tifton; great-grandmother, Jean Lott, of Ocilla, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Robert Harrison will officiate. 

Pallbearers will be Luke Mathis, Frankie Mathis, Brad Caneega, Sammy Braswell, Jack O'Conner, Paul Wilcox, and Jordan Ricks.

Family and friends are gathering at the home of his parents, Kevin and Tracie Childers.
