Obituary

Rickey Weltzel Currie, age 71, of Dexter, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020.

A lifelong resident of Laurens County, Rickey was a retired heavy equipment operator and member of White Springs Baptist Church. He loved to hunt and fish and was known to never share his fishing secrets.  Mr. Currie was preceded in death by his parents, Kline Welton and Eudell Gay Currie, and brother, Kenneth Currie.

Survivors include his son, Cole Currie, of Phoenix City, AL; sister, Carolyn Hester (Kenneth), of Dunwoody; brothers, Rev. W.L. Currie (Wanda), and Tommy Currie, both of East Dublin; sister-in-law, Daphine Currie, of East Dublin, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, January 20, 2020 at White Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. W.L. Currie will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Robbie Currie, Richie Currie, Kyle Currie, Lance Coleman, Leon Brooks, and Stephen White.
