Robert “Bob” Thomas Tarpley, Sr. of Dublin, passed away at his home Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Mr. Tarpley was a native of Laurens County. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and later was an accountant for the University of North Carolina. Mr. Tarpley served in the United States Army.
Bob moved back to Dublin in 1994 to help take care of his father. He became the Minister of Senior Adults at First Baptist Church and served until he retired at age 90. He was a faithful servant of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who he loved and his goal in life was to tell others about Jesus.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Orian Thomas Tarpley, Sr. and Flauselle Thomas Tarpley, his wife Joyce Hilton Tarpley, and a brother William B. Tarpley.
Survivors include his children, Robert Tarpley Jr., Keith (Sandy) Tarpley, Bruce Tarpley, Sandra Tarpley, 6 grandchildren, Robert Tarpley III, Jessica Daye, Christopher Tarpley, Kevin Tarpley, Jordyn Tarpley, and Elizabeth Tarpley, 10 Great Grandchildren, 3 brothers, Marvin (Sue) Tarpley, Harvey (Sylvia) Tarpley, Thomas (Lavelle) Tarpley, numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Robert Thomas Tarpley, Sr., will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, January 11, 2023, at First Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.
