Robert Channing “Chan” Ward, 50, of East Dublin, Georgia, passed peacefully on May 6, 2025, at Fairview Park Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 12, 1974, in Dublin, Georgia, Chan was the beloved son of Murray and Paula Dominy Ward. A 1993 West Laurens High School graduate, Chan was known for his warm spirit, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to his family. He was a proud member of Lighthouse Church of God in East Dublin, where his love for Jesus shone brightly in every part of his life.
Chan had a passion for the Georgia Bulldogs, the Atlanta Braves, WWE wrestling’s adrenaline and the roar of NASCAR. Music of all kinds brought him joy, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family and his Savior. Those who knew Chan will remember his kind heart, sense of humor, and the quiet strength with which he faced life’s trials.
Before his health declined, Chan was a dedicated employee at YKK and later Shamrock Vending. His work ethic reflected his character- steady, friendly, and humble. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dixie Charlene Ward; his paternal grandparents, Murry Algerine and Abbie Sawyer Ward; his maternal grandparents, Herbert Luther and Mary Sallie Walker Dominy; and his father-in-law, Larry Wayne Lumley.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife and best friend, Amie Lumley Ward of East Dublin; his proudest accomplishments, his children: son, Noah Channing Ward of Valdosta, and his daughter, Alaina Grace Ward of East Dublin. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Murray and Paula Ward, and his brother, Edward “Ed” Ward, of Dublin, and his mother-in-laws, Janice Johnson Lumley of East Dublin and Margie Runyon Lumley of Dublin. Also mourning his loss are his brother and sisters-in-law: Jason and Brandi Lumley of Vidalia, Flip and Tina Lawson of East Dublin, and Stephen and Catherine Lumley of Dublin; as well as several cousins, nephews, and a niece. If Chan could leave us with any words, they would be simple, yet profound: “Jesus 1”. His faith was his anchor, and his love for his family was his legacy.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Services will be held Friday, May 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Lighthouse Church of God in East Dublin, GA, burial at Dublin Memorial Gardens to follow. Services will be officiated by Bishop Monty Lasseter, Reverend Scotty Herndon, and Reverend Brandi Lumley. The visitation will be on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 6-8 pm at Townsend Funeral Home in Dublin, GA.
The pallbearers will be Noah Ward, Ed Ward, Mark Ward, Blake Ward, Kent Dominy, and Nathan Lumley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jake Clark, Caleb Lawson, Hunter Lawson, Steve Foskey, Alex Bachmann, Colton Lumley, and Rob Ward.
