Ronelda Cartwright Screws, age 86, of East Dublin, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
Mrs. Screws was born in Telfair County on February 25, 1934, to the late Ellis McDavid and Latha Thomas Cartwright. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and was a world traveler. She was an active member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church for over 57 years serving in many areas of ministry with the youth and senior adults. Ronelda loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Screws, and brother, Mack Cartwright.
Survivors include her son, Benny Howard Screws, Jr. (Melinda), of East Dublin; daughter, Celia S. Covington (Greg), of Dublin; grandsons, George Adam Covington (Betsy), of Canton, Benny Howard Screws III (Taylor), of Macon, Rachel Renee Lingefelt (Thomas), of Roswell; great-grandchildren, George Parker Covington and Finnley Rae Covington; sisters, Clarice Batchelor, of Harlem, and Vivian Cooper, of McRae, and brother, Tommy Cartwright, of McRae, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Screws will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Rev. Kyle Giddens, Rev. Larry Rowland, and Mr. Ted Jarrell will officiate. Interment will be held privately.
