Ronald “Ronnie” Sawyer, of Dublin, GA, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 3, 1942, to Darvis and Nola Woodard Sawyer, Ronald's life was a testament to the values of love, dedication, and faith that he held dear.
Growing up in Dublin, he was surrounded by a loving family, including his late parents, his brothers Pete and Donald Sawyer, and his sister Eloise Pittman, and son, Anthony Sawyer, all of whom predeceased him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Brooks Sawyer, with whom he shared countless treasured moments.
Ronald was a loving father to his sons, Ronald Eric Sawyer, Greg Brooks, and Robert Sawyer, and his daughter, Tessa Carroll, and her husband, James. His legacy continues through his grandson, Daniel Carroll, who brought immense joy to his life. Ronald also leaves behind his brother, Harold Sawyer, and his wife, Virranus, and his sister, Emma Joe Jones, along with several nieces and nephews.
Ronald was a dedicated member of White Springs Baptist Church. His work as a mechanic showcased not only his skill but also his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need even after retirement. Those who knew Ronald will remember him as a man who loved riding horses, a pastime that brought him great pleasure and relaxation. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow at White Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. McCloud will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Matt Dimmen, Kyle Melton, John Sellers, James Lamb, Leon Brooks, and Brian Harden.
