Rosalie Butler Dixon, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026.Mrs. Dixon was born in Laurens County. She graduated as Valedictorian from Cedar Grove High School in 1947. She and her husband lived, worked and raised their children in Macon, GA for many years. They returned to the Cedar Grove community in 1973 where they ran Dixon's Grocery until 1990. Mrs. Dixon was a dedicated Christian and was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church. She was the oldest living member of the church. She loved her family and was an inspiration to them all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford H. Dixon, parents, Winnie Mae (CA-Clarence)Pilcher and Reuben (Rosetta)Butler, brother, Russell(Janice)Butler, Son-in-law, Peter Wenninger, and grandson-in-law, Dylan Harrison.
Mrs. Dixon’s legacy will carry on through her loving family. She is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Starley and Gail Cumber. Sister-in-law, Quida Walker. Children, Paula (Jay)Gibbons, Catherine Wenninger, Vicki (Alan)Gay, Clay (Vickie)Dixon, Lisa (Greg)Milks. Grandchildren, Matt Arnold (Amy)Wenninger, Daryl (Catherine)Gibbons, Miranda (Victor)Stewart, Stephan (Sarah)Wenninger, Melissa (Chris)Bentley, Joel Gibbons, Michelle (TJ)Byrd, Kevin Dixon, Hunter (Kristina)Milks, Curtis Gay, and Heather Harrison. Great-Grandchildren, Kian Gibbons, Rebekah Wenninger, Gavin Byrd, Logan Wenninger, Cameron Wenninger, Ava Byrd, Kai Gibbons, Tess Wenninger, Kyle Wenninger, Luke Stewart, Amelia Bentley, Abigail Bentley, Cole Stewart, Brody Harrison, Layla Milks, and Gunner Milks. Also, a great number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Union Springs Baptist Church on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. with funeral services to follow at 3:00 P.M. Reverend Ronnie Powell and Reverend Ray Harris will officiate the service.
Burial will be held at the Cedar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
