Rose Holmes Shoptaw, age 89, of Dublin, passed away on April 16, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Shoptaw was born in Laurens County on November 19, 1931, to the late Thurman and Rita Mae Holmes. She was an educator for many years and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Dublin. Mrs. Shoptaw loved God and her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Willene Lamb, and Vanita Boulware, and grandson, Andrew McQuaig.
Survivors include her husband, James Harold Shoptaw, of Dublin; daughter, Marty McQuaig (Mike), of Lilburn, GA; son, Jimbo Shoptaw (Helen), of Hazard, KY; grandchildren, Callie McQuaig, of Birmingham, AL, Mallory McQuaig, of Philadelphia, PA, Caleb McQuaig (Brittany), of Hoschton, GA, and James Shoptaw, Robert Shoptaw, Samuel Shoptaw, and William Shoptaw, all of Hazard, KY; sister, Betty Chambliss, of Dublin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at 3:00 PM in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Dr. Cliff Morris will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Caleb McQuaig, James Shoptaw, Robert Shoptaw, Samuel Shoptaw, Torre Vann, and William Shoptaw.
The family will receive friends at the Shoptaw residence.
