Royce Reginald Whittle

Royce Reginald Whittle, 81, of Dexter, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 19, 2023, after an extended illness.   Services will be held on Monday, May 22 2023, at 2:00p.m. at Rentz Baptist Church.  Rev. Tom Vann and Rev. Grady  Mimbs will be officiating.  Burial will follow  at Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.  

Royce was born on December 7, 1941, in Dexter, Georgia,  to his late parents, Millard Leonard Whittle and Julia Allie (Woodard) Whittle.  He was married to Jackie Sharon (McNeal) Whittle, his wife of 51 years, on December 4, 1971.

Royce was a 1960 graduate of Dexter High School, where he participated in baseball, basketball, volleyball, track and showed pigs for FFA. He had a big love of agriculture and farming. He was hardworking and farming was his passion.  Nothing made him happier than to grow vegetables and share with everyone.  He was a man of faith and a man of his word. The love and dedication he showed toward his family and friends were unmatched.  He was known for being so patient and kind to everyone he knew. When his health allowed, he could always be found on his tractor doing what he loved.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and being the best “PAPA”. Royce loved fishing and was a huge Atlanta Braves fan. 

Royce was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include his devoted wife, Jackie McNeal Whittle of Dexter;  his loving daughters Krista (Michael) Ware of Bonaire and  Amanda Perez of Dexter; his grandchildren Gracie Ware, Gunnar Ware, Noah Sosa, Sofia Sosa, Jaylen Reyes, and Adalyn Reyes; his brother Winston (Ellen) Whittle of Statesboro; his sister Jane Whittle Williams of Dexter;  and nieces Janie Culpepper of Dexter and Stacey Whittle of Americas; and a host of extended family.  

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m to 2:00p.m on May 22, 2023 at Rentz Baptist Church, prior to services. 

Pallbearers will be Tommy Butler, Ray Whittle, Bud Wilson, Monty Cochran, Hilton Culpepper and Greg Slaughter.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Lee Collier, M.L. Knight, Donald Russell, Mike Rhodes, and Larry Sanders.

The family would like to send a special thank you for your love and care to the staff at Agape Care Group (Hospice)  and the staff of Home Instead Senior Care.
