Shirley Ann Ward Morris, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at the age of 78, in her hometown of Dublin, GA. Born on September 24, 1947, to the late Murray Algerine Ward and Abbie Sawyer Ward, Shirley was a lifelong resident of Dublin, where she cultivated a life rich in family, service, and kindness.
Shirley's early years in Dublin set the stage for a life dedicated to caring for others. Her compassionate spirit led her to a fulfilling career as a Pediatric Nurse at Fairview Park Hospital, where she touched the lives of countless children and families with her warmth and expertise. Even after retirement, Shirley's desire to serve never waned, as evidenced by her active role as Co-Director of the Laurens Baptist Women's Mission and her devout membership at Montrose Baptist Church.
Her commitment to community extended beyond her professional and spiritual life. Shirley was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, where she shared many joyous moments with friends.
Shirley's legacy is carried on by her beloved husband, James Dewell Morris; her cherished daughter, Sherrie Bachmann (Donnie) Boone, and to her step-children, Lisa (Mark) Morris, Darin (Donyale) Morris, and Chris (Leigh Ann) Morris; and grandchildren, Alex Bachmann, Britney Thomas, Clay Thomas, Courtnie Shillingburg, Erin Young, Evan Morris, and Tamara Morris and brothers, Murray (Paula) Ward and Al (Teresa) Ward.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Louie Ward.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service hour on Sunday at the funeral home.
