Mrs. Shirley Allen Watkins, age 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 31, 2022.
Mrs. Watkins was born May 16, 1936, in Dublin, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Huey Bane Allen and Lollis Coleman Allen; husbands, Quinn Williams and Harold Watkins: two sons, Bruce Williams and Keith Williams; a beautiful granddaughter, Misty Marie Williams; two brothers, Nathan Perry Allen and Joseph Coleman Allen, and a son-in-law, Jimmy Burgamy.
She was a member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church and was retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center as a nurse assistant. She always talked about her years working in retail at JC Penney’s and Dunn’s Department Store, where she met her lifelong best friend, Brenda Mullis. She loved her flowers and working in her yard. She also loved her family and friends dearly.
“Mama Shirley” is survived by her daughter, Donna Burgamy of Irwinton; two sons, Ricky Williams of Cochran and Joey (Debra) Williams of Dublin; her grandchildren: Lee Burgamy, Clint (Casey) Burgamy, Darbi Danielle Williams, Sarah Williams, Kevin Williams and Kyle (Allison) Williams; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eloise Williams, Barbara Woodard and Joyce Ellington; three brothers, Buddy Allen, Raymond Allen, and Martin Allen; and her special friend and helper, Donna Harrison-Snyder.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Walnut Creek Baptist Church with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Rev. Wes Pinkley will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Williams, Clint Burgamy, Kyle Williams, Roger Williams, Mark Ellington, and Gene Rozier.
