Steve Bilharz

Steve Bilharz, age 70, of Dublin, Georgia, passed away on April 5, 2026.

Born on June 16, 1955, in Waukegan, Illinois, Steve was the son of the late Gordon and Virginia Bilharz. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susan Bilharz, and his sister, Karen Choyke. He is survived by his son, Stephen J. Bilharz of Dallas, Georgia; his daughter, Jennifer Zwaga of Jacksonville, Florida; and his sister, Pam Penttinen of Lenoir, North Carolina. He also leaves behind many who cherished him and will deeply miss his gentle spirit, and kindness.

Steve dedicated part of his professional life to serving others as an instructor with Oconee Fall Line Technical College. In that role, he shared not only knowledge and experience, but also patience, integrity, and a sincere desire to help others succeed.

Faith was central to Steve’s life, and he was a devoted member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. He loved his church family dearly and found great joy in worship, fellowship, and the shared bonds of Christian community. Above all, Steve was a dedicated and loving father. He took great pride in his family and treasured the relationships that shaped his life. His children will remember him for his love, his kindness, and the quiet strength he brought to every season of life. He was a man who listened with care, spoke with sincerity, and loved without reservation.

A funeral service celebrating Steve’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the church.
