Thomas Howell Chamblee, age 81, of Dublin, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
Mr. Chamblee was born in Walton County and moved to Laurens County in 1948. He attended Dudley School and served six years in the United States Army Reserves. He was of the Methodist faith and worked on a farm and at Ward’s Service Station in Montrose for two years. He began working at Georgia Kaolin in Dry Branch in 1957 and medically retired in 1984. Mr. Chamblee was always willing to help a stranded motorist up and down Highway 80 West during his working years and afterward. He enjoyed working on old cars, fishing, working outdoors, and was an avid NASCAR fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace H. Chamblee and Mary Lou Sims Chamblee; step-father, Carlton L. Hayes; brothers, John Chamblee and Doug Chamblee, and sister, Doris Marnard.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Porter Chamblee, of Dublin; son, Tom Chamblee, of Dublin; and daughter, Teresa Chamblee Phillips (Perry), of Milner, GA.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2020, at Dublin Memorial Gardens.
