Thomas Bernard King

Services for Thomas “Bernard” King, age 88 of Dublin, who passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021, will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Jefferson Street Baptist Church with burial to follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 PM until the funeral hour.

Paul Register, Chad Layfield, Brett Manning, Asher Brantley, Mason Brantley and Will Didriksen will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. King was a native of Waycross and was the son of the late Joseph Frank King and the late Gussie Gertrude Drury King. He graduated from Waycross High School and attended the University of Georgia. He served in the US Navy for 3 years, 11 months, and 9 days.

Bernard was a 50-year member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and was active in several other ministries. He was also member of the Dublin Civitan Club for over 40 years where he served in various roles as an officer and president. He retired from the Georgia Department of Labor after 34 years of service, 17 of those as manager, and also from Oconee EMC after 11 years.

Bernard loved his life. His greatest treasure was his relationship with Jesus Christ. His greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He was a faithful husband, loving daddy, caring grandfather, forever friend, and devoted disciple. 

In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann King, and a granddaughter, Lillian Grace Register.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Brantley King of Dublin; children, Christopher Eric King (Francine) of Waycross, Thomas Jason King of Cadwell, Felicia King Layfield (Chad) of Kathleen, LeAnn King Register (Paul) of Kathleen, and Teresa King Didriksen (Jay) of Safety Harbor, FL; grandchildren, Eric King, Chelsea Thomas, Hunter King, Cory King, Savannah Layfield, Haley Register, Bryson Register, Ryles Register, Colton Register, William Register, Faith Didriksen, Will Didriksen, Sarah Beth Didriksen, Anna Lynn Didriksen, and great-grandchildren, Nora and Xander Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dublin Civitan Club, P.O. Box 635, Dublin GA 31040, or to the Warner Robins Civitan Club, P.O. Box 6788, Warner Robins GA 31095.
