Tommy Walter (Tom) Mullis, age 74, currently of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, passed away on February 3, 2021.
Tom was one of four children born to Walter and Addie Mullis on September 3, 1946. He is survived by his only son, John Walter Chadwick Mullis; his brothers, Donnie (Peggy) Mullis, and John Mullis; Tom’s two stepdaughters, Susie (Carlos), and Sallie (Bob), and their children, Callie and Robbie; Amber (Robert), and children, Peyton, Addy, Karmen, and Aurora; Tony (Abigail), and children, Jillian and Anthony, who are children and grandchildren that he loved as his own.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn C. Mullis; brother, James Mullis and his wife, Virginia, and his sister-in-law, Brenda Mullis.
Tom served his community through his philanthropic work, and his country in the Army during the Vietnam war. As the owner of Dublin Tire, he could be found every year serving meals and handing out food to the families in the community he loved. Tom was born in Dublin, Ga. then relocated to South Florida where he opened and ran his first tire business before returning to Dublin.
Tom loved racing cars, hot rods, and building things. He was an avid history buff and enjoyed the study of mathematics and engineering. Tom lived in Key Largo where he spent his free time boating and fishing. He had recently retired to the island of St. Croix where he continued to explore the outdoors and remodel his home.
To protect those he loves and the community, a formal memorial service has been postponed due to Covid-19. It is the hope and prayer of the immediate family to establish an annual car show event to celebrate the life of Tom Mullis and everything he loved. Because of this, donations can be made in Tom's memory to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
