Virginia Coker Hogan, of Gray, GA, formerly of Dublin, GA, died August 7, 2020. Graveside services will be at 10:00AM on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Dublin Memorial Gardens, Dublin, GA.
Virginia was the youngest daughter of the late Hiron Blakely (Blake) Coker Sr. and the late Martha W. Gunn Coker. She was preceded in death by her loving and dedicated spouse, A. Maurice Hogan of Dublin, GA, her sisters M. Rebecca (Levy) Miller of Reidsville, GA, Frances E. Coker of McRae, GA, Shirley R. (Ralph) Martin of Union Point, GA and brother Hiron Blakely Coker (Blake) Jr. of Byron GA. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dublin, GA.
Virginia is survived by two wonderful sons, Stephen M. Hogan of Radcliff, KY; Charles D. (Laney) Hogan of Gray, GA;grandchildren Andrew Hogan of Augusta, GA; Jackson Hogan of McDonough, GA; Tucker MacLane Hogan and Chaney Virginia Lynn Hogan of Gray GA.
Virginia retired from the Laurens County Library/Oconee Regional Library of Dublin after 40 years. She was Children’s Librarian for the first thirty years, worked circulation, bookmobile, and Book Selections and Cataloging Departments.
During her life, she served in the First United Methodist Church teaching Sunday School, Youth Fellowship, and Women of the Church. Virginia served with Dublin FUMC Pack 65 Cub Scouts for several years along with her husband, Maurice, who later went on to serve as Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 68, Boy Scouts of America, at J.P. Stevens/Fortsmann. She was very proud to have both of her sons become Eagle Scouts as well as all their other accomplishments.
Virginia, an avid quilter, was a member of the Laurens Happy Quilters of Rentz, GA from 1991 and continued to quilt and donate until death.
