Vonelle (Young) Morton

Vonelle Young Morton, age 82, of Dublin, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Serenity Place.

Mrs. Morton was born in Laurens County to the late Willie B. and Mattie Lou Young. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching the hummingbirds, but her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrell Earl Morton; brothers, Carl Young, Ted Young, Quinton Young, and Gene Young; and sisters, Ann Thaxton and Christine Mullis.

Survivors include her daughter, Sianne Brown, of Atlanta; sons, Mitchell Childers (Sheila), of Dublin, Ricky Eugene Childers (Susan), of San Jose, CA, Jeffery Childers (Christi), of Jasper, and Steve Morton (Lynn), of Dublin; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, G.W. Young, of Jonesboro; sisters, Lynette Wright, of Dexter, Carolyn Sanders, of Milledgeville, and Elaine Mason (Allen), of Dublin; her loving pet, “Sarge”, and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Morton will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, April 22, 2019 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bracewell Cemetery. Rev. Nolon McDaniel and Mr. Dan Childers will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00AM until funeral hour at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.

Keith Brooks, Jimmy Holmes, William Petty, Wayne Mason, Michael Woodard and Gregg Woodard will serve as pallbearers.
