Walker Moore Obituary

Walker DuPree Moore, a man of exceptional intelligence and dedication, passed away on February 9, 2024, in Mineral Bluff, Georgia.

Born on June 7, 1946, Walker's life was one marked by achievement and service. His early life was filled with academic and extracurricular accomplishments, culminating in his graduation from Dublin High School in 1964 as a Star Student and band captain. His industrious nature was evident in his youth when he managed not one but three paper routes, including the Courier Herald. This early work ethic set the stage for a life characterized by diligence and a strong sense of responsibility.

Walker's thirst for knowledge and commitment to excellence continued at the US Naval Academy, where he graduated in 1968, ready to serve his country with distinction. Before his distinguished military service,

His naval career was nothing short of remarkable. As a weapons officer on the Nuclear Submarine USS Daniel Boone, Walker demonstrated his prowess and leadership. His peers and superiors recognized his talents, and he graduated first in his nuclear power class, a testament to his unwavering dedication and intellect.

He is survived by his brother, George Harold Moore (Dr. Margery McCrum) of Brattleboro, VT, and his sister, Melanie E. Moore of Dublin, GA. He joins in eternal rest his late father, William Walker Moore, his mother, Elizabeth DuPree Moore, and his son, Greg Moore, who all preceded him in death.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Moore will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.  Dr. Darrell Paulk will officiate.  A private family interment will be held.
