Willard Wayne Coleman, known affectionately as Wayne to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, just one day after celebrating his 90th birthday. Born on January 10, 1935, in Dublin, Georgia, Wayne was the beloved son of the late Joseph Henry Coleman and Mary Ethel Wyatt Coleman.
Wayne was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Betty Brown Coleman, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and memories. He was also predeceased by his brother, Truitt Coleman, and brother-in-law, Jerrell Brown.
Wayne's legacy continues through his devoted daughters, Patti Falco (Mike) and Kay Hughes (Ken); his adoring grandchildren, Josh Smith, Crystal Taylor (Patrick), and Brock Smith (Kristy); and his great-grandchildren, Lacy Taylor, Ashton Smith, Coleman Smith, and Jacob Smith. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Coleman Brown, and several nieces and nephews.
Wayne worked as a supervisor at Forstmann & Co., where he dedicated many years before retiring. He was also a retired farmer, a vocation that allowed him to indulge in his love for the land and nature. Wayne's hands were rarely still, as he was an avid outdoorsman who found solace and joy in the great outdoors.
Services will be held for Mr. Coleman on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Mary Whitaker Townsend Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Winfred McCloud will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service hour on Monday at the funeral home.
