Wiley Cecil Stuckey, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on March 18, 2025, at the age of 78. He was surrounded by his loving family in his hometown of Dublin, Georgia. He was born on February 14, 1947, to the late Fred Stuckey, Jr. and Lillian Moon Stuckey. Wiley was a man whose life was marked by dedication and service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Stuckey and Mike Stuckey.
Wiley's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 56 years, Diane Smith Stuckey; his daughter, Melissa (Brad) Stephens, of Dublin, and his son, Kevin (Jennifer) Stuckey, of Greenville, SC. His grandchildren, Caitlyn and Sydney Stephens of Dublin; Jaxon and Savannah Stuckey of Greenville, SC, and Ashley Stephens, of San Francisco, CA, will forever cherish the memories of their doting grandfather. He is also survived by his sister, Eugenia Haskins of Dublin, and brother, Randy Stuckey of Helena, GA, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A proud alumnus of Middle Georgia College, Wiley's intellect and passion for technology led him to obtain a degree in Electrical Engineering. His commitment to his country was evident through his service in the United States Army, a period of his life that shaped much of his character and resolve. Following his military service, Wiley embarked on a distinguished career with the Department of Veteran Affairs, where he retired as Chief Information Officer.
Wiley's dedication to his community was unwavering. He served as a Dublin City Councilman, first from 1986-1988 and then from 1992-2004, during which time he was instrumental in bringing the Dublin Wifi Broadband Network to fruition and advocating for the establishment of the Dublin Northside Fire Station. His civic engagement extended to his membership in the Dublin Exchange Club and his devout service as a member and Deacon at Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
Even after retirement, Wiley's passion for technology and service continued. For the last 9 and a half years, he worked as an IT Consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, where he was revered as a Vista Subject Matter Expert. His professional achievements were many, but it was his personal touch that left a lasting impact on those he worked with.
Wiley's love for his family was evident in everything he did. He coached every youth athletic sport his children participated in, and he was a constant presence on the sidelines, cheering on his grandchildren in their various endeavors. His sense of humor, wisdom, and loving nature made him a pillar in the lives of his family and friends.
Those who knew Wiley will remember him as a man who could light up a room with his humor, and whose love for his family was as deep and enduring as his faith. Wiley's life was a testament to the power of love, service, and commitment to one's community and family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
