William “Buddy” Leo Roberts passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 in Dublin, Georgia. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 30th at Charity Baptist Church with the Reverends Tim Powell and Jim Fennell officiating. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. A visitation time will begin at 10:00am, one hour prior to the service.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Leo “Sambo” and Dorothy Roberts, his brother, Sammy Roberts, and his sister, Bobbi Brantley. He was born in Sandersville, Georgia on March 30, 1947 and graduated from Washington County High School. He was an Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War for two years. He retired from the United States Postal Service and was a recipient of the Million Mile Award. He was also a talented craftsman and built and refurbished many homes. He loved sports and enjoyed supporting the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Braves. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church and served as a Trustee. His favorite hobby was spending time with his family and occasionally dressing up as Santa Claus.
Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Elaine Crowder Roberts, his sons Cliff (Holley) Roberts, Marvin (Ursula) Webster, and daughter Nichol (Jack) Upshaw; grandchildren Sierra Webster, Ansley Roberts, Ford Roberts, Hillary (Nathan) Kennison, Jordan Upshaw; two great granddaughters, Claire and Stella Kennison; his mother-in-law Lois Crowder, sisters-in-law Mary Darby, Joy Weber, Jean Collins, and brothers-in-law, Mike (Pat) Crowder and J.M. Brantley.
Pallbearers include Hugh Kight, Todd Woodard, Idris McGouirk, Terry Cobb, Donnie Graham, and Robert Dover.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Charity Baptist Church Building Fund, 599 Valambrosia Road, Dublin, GA 31021 or Promise of Hope, PO Box 321, Dudley, GA 31022.
