Willie Crosby Obituary

 

Willie James Crosby, age 80, of East Dublin, entered into rest Friday May 8, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.  

Mr. Crosby was born in Yamasee, South Carolina in April 23, 1940 to the late Harry and Thelma Crosby.  He was married in 1961 to Janice Bloodworth Crosby in Allendale, South Carolina.  The Crosby's lived in Greenwood, South Carolina until 1970 when they moved to Dublin, GA.  Mr. Crosby worked for 32 years with J.P. Stevens/Forstmann Company retiring in 2002.  Mr. Crosby also worked part time and later full time with Tanner Service Center in East Dublin.  

Willie was a devoted family man who loved spending time in his retirement with his children, grands and great-grandchildren.  He was an avid race car and boxing fan in his younger days and loved his Clemson Tigers football and anyone that was playing his family's Georgia Bulldogs. 

Mr. Crosby’s brothers and sisters include Johnny Cosby (deceased); surviving siblings, Louise Dykes, Carolyn Bolen, Doris Dykes, Ruby Spires, Lenard Crosby, Randy Crosby, Charles Crosby, and a number of nieces and nephews.  

Mr. Crosby is also survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janice Crosby; his three children, Janet Sumner (Gary) of Augusta, Mitchell Crosby of East Dublin, Teresa Jones (Craig) of Warner Robins and Heather Floyd (Mike) of Chester; grandchildren, Ryan Sumner (Rebecca) of North Augusta, South Carolina, Ben Sumner (Courtney) of Augusta, Michael Sumner of Augusta, Derrick Crosby of Dublin, Joey Crosby (Bella) of Rentz, Brandon Jones (Rachel) of Warner Robins, and Taylor Jones of Byron.  His children blessed him with 7 great-grandchildren, Hayden Ray Crosby Floyd and Bentley Floyd of Chester,  Aubrey Freeman and Brodie Crosby of Rentz, Luke Sumner of North Augusta, Anna Grace Sumner of Augusta, and Hudson Jones of Warner Robins.

Private graveside services will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, May 11, 2020 in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Reverend Kevin Tanner will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Serenity Hospice, Dublin, who was so helpful to the family in his last days.
