Wyatt Vincent Murphy

Wyatt Vincent Murphy passed away on October 12, 2023, after an ATV accident at the home of a friend.  Due on Christmas Day, Wyatt was born on December 23, 2006.  He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Lee Murphy.   Wyatt will be forever missed by his parents, Joshua and Sally Capes; siblings, Hank Murphy and Marianna Capes; maternal grandparents, Patsy and Al Beall; paternal grandparents, Cheryl and Joe Murphy; step-grandparents, Kathy and Tim Capes, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.    

 Wyatt’s life was a true gift from the very beginning. When Wyatt was born, the doctors remarked how big his shoulders were and said he would make a great football player someday. When Wyatt began high school at East Laurens, he was passionate about being part of the football, wrestling, and baseball teams. We will always cherish the leadership and love poured out to him by his coaches. Wyatt loved attending the Youth Group at Brewton Baptist Church led by Kevin Tanner. Kevin guided Wyatt to make the decision to become a Christian and to be baptized on September 5, 2021.  Wyatt made many special memories with his Youth Group, who were some of his closest friends.  Wyatt loved being outside hunting, fishing, hiking with his uncles, and doing work around his family’s farm (especially with William “Pop” Coleman).

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Brewton Baptist Church with Reverend Kenny Green and Reverend Kevin Tanner officiating. Interment will follow at Brewton Community Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be William “Pop” Coleman, Lee Beall, Sam Beall, Robbie Chappell, Matt Sweat, and Hunter Beall.

The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Words cannot express the family’s appreciation to Dr. Christie, Dr. Rowe, and the nurses at Navicent Hospital in Macon for their professional and compassionate care. Flowers are appreciated, but in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Laurens High School Football at 1010 US Hwy 80, East Dublin, Georgia 31027.
