Yates Ware Obituary

Yates Ware, of Dudley, GA, passed away on March 1, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on August 5, 1937, in Dublin, GA, Yates was the embodiment of dedication, service, and kindness.

The son of the late Henry and Lizzie Mae Cochran Ware, Yates grew up understanding the value of family and community. His life was a testament to these principles, as he shared a loving marriage with his late wife, Mary Ruth Miller Ware. Together, they raised a family that included their son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Amber Ware, and their daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Henry Carter. Yates was a proud grandfather to Tyler (Breanna) Ware, Kade Ware, and Trey Carter, and great-granddaughter, Josie Ware. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Fred Miller, and his wife, Eva, and several nieces and nephews.

Yates's legacy is marked by his unwavering commitment to public service. He served with distinction as a Captain with the Laurens County Sheriff's Office, a role that allowed him to protect and serve the community he so loved. His dedication extended beyond his professional duties as he was an active member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church, where his faith and fellowship with others were evident.

His influence reached far and wide through his involvement with the Georgia Sheriff's Association, where he not only was a lifelong member but also contributed his wisdom and experience as a member of the Board of Directors. Yates's passion for supporting youth was apparent in his service on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Sheriff's Youth Group Home, where he helped guide and nurture young lives.

Yates Ware was a man of great character, whose loyalty and dedication were not confined to his job but were deeply woven into the fabric of his family life. He was a one-of-a-kind gentleman who served his county faithfully from 1968 until his retirement in 2000. Known for being a man of his word, Yates always saw the best in people. He gave respect to everyone he came in contact with, especially those in law enforcement and the military, recognizing their commitment to the well-being of others.

Those who knew Yates would describe him as loving, friendly, and generous. He was a man who could be counted on, whether for a word of advice or a helping hand. His presence brought comfort and assurance to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
