William Edison Padgett, age 93, of Dublin passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
Mr. Padgett was born and raised in Laurens County. He served in the US Army in World War II as a combat engineer in the European Theater (England, France, Germany, Belgium and Italy). He was a retired supervisor from Georgia Kraft Paper, serving 38 years in Macon and Rome. After retirement he moved back to Laurens County where he farmed, raised cattle, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church and was a good hearted person who loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Lucian and Annie Mae Padgett, daughter; Vicki Lynn Padgett; brother Wade L. Padgett; sisters; Lucille P. Maynard, Mattie P. Moorman and Clyde P. Dean, and brothers in law; Lunice Moorman and Dewell Dean.
Survivors include his son, Mark (Nina) Padgett, of Dublin; companion, Betty McAfee, of Wrightsville; nieces and nephews, DeeAnn (Bob) Adams, of Titusville, FL, Wayne (Connie) Moorman, of Macon, Connie (Buddy) Townsend, of Dublin, Donna Lawson, of Pooler, Elton (Charlene) Dean, of Dublin, Larry (Javonne) Dean, of Dublin, Cheryl (Robert) Veal, of Wrightsville, Desiree Padgett, Dennis (Nova) Padgett, of Ft. Payne, AL.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 6PM to 8PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 10, 2017 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens with Rev. Brad Ball and Rev. Sam Scaggs officiating.
Robert Veal, Elton Dean, Larry Dean, Wesley Couey, Larry Knight, and Mike Couey will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Moorman, Bobby Couey, Herman Tucker, Steve McAfee, Jeff McAfee and Joey Padgett.
